Benefits & Financial Support
The scholarship is fully funded. It includes a living stipend of AUD 42,754 per annum (2026 rate), 100% tuition fee coverage for up to 14 research periods for PhD students (and up to 7 research periods for Master's by Research students), a relocation allowance, and a thesis allowance. The approximate annual amount in INR is calculated based on the 2026 stipend rate and an estimated annual tuition fee of AUD 45,000, converted at 1 AUD = 66.30 INR.

Degree Level:Must be commencing or currently enrolled full-time in a Master's by Research or PhD (Higher Degree by Research) program at the University of Sydney.
Academic Achievement:Applicants must have an outstanding record of academic achievement and previous research experience. This typically includes a First Class Honours degree (H1) or an equivalent qualification. For Master's by coursework equivalent, a weighted average mark (WAM) of at least 80% with a significant research component is required. A Master of Philosophy (or equivalent) by thesis usually requires an 85% mark.
English Language Proficiency:Must meet the University of Sydney's English language requirements.
Previous Scholarships:Not eligible if you have recently held an Australia Award scholarship within the last two years. Not eligible if you have previously received an RTP fee scholarship for a completed research master's and are now applying for another master's. Not eligible if you already hold a research degree equivalent to an Australian PhD, or if applying for a research master's, already hold an equivalent or higher research qualification.
Application History:Cannot have been considered for this scholarship more than three times in the past five years.
