UP Extends Sanskrit Education Scholarship Coverage: Monthly Grants for Class 6 to Higher Education

The Government of Uttar Pradesh has announced a major expansion of its Sanskrit Education Scholarship scheme to support students studying in traditional Sanskrit schools, Gurukuls, and degree institutions across the state.

Key Policy Changes & Income Ceiling Removal

Under the revised guidelines, the UP State Government has completely abolished the previous family income cap of ₹50,000 per annum. This reform ensures that all enrolled Sanskrit students meeting the attendance threshold can receive financial support without income restrictions.

Scholarship Amounts & Student Coverage

The scheme covers students across multiple educational stages:

* Prathama (Classes 6–7): ₹50 per month * Prathama (Class 8): ₹75 per month * Purva Madhyama (Classes 9–10): ₹100 per month * Uttar Madhyama (Classes 11–12): ₹200 per month * Shastri & Acharya (UG & PG): ₹200 to ₹250 per month

Eligibility & Attendance Norms

To receive the monthly stipend, students must be enrolled in recognized Sanskrit institutions in Uttar Pradesh, maintain at least 75% attendance, and secure minimum 50% passing marks in their previous annual examinations. Payments are processed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) linked to Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts.

Applications are submitted online via the official Uttar Pradesh state portal (scholarship.up.gov.in) during the state scholarship window. Students must submit hard copies of their online application to their school principal and District Inspector of Schools (DIoS) for institutional verification.
