Selection Process

Candidates are selected based on meeting the eligibility criteria, which include being an ST student, a domicile of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, having passed Senior Secondary (10+2) or equivalent from a recognized board, and pursuing regular, full-time undergraduate, postgraduate, M.Phil, Ph.D., or diploma-level studies in a government-recognized institution anywhere in India

The award is also subject to good conduct and regularity in attendance, as certified by the Head of the Institution.
Renewal Policy

The scholarship is renewable annually until the completion of the course, provided the scholar maintains good conduct, regular attendance, and secures promotion to the next higher class

If a student fails the yearly examination for the first time, the scholarship may be renewed

However, for second and subsequent failures in any class, the student must bear their own expenses until they secure promotion to the next higher class

In cases of inability to appear for the annual examination due to illness and/or on account of any other unforeseen event, renewal may be granted upon submission of a medical certificate or other required proof with a recommendation from the Head of the Institution.
How to Apply Online
Applications are submitted online via Online. Complete eKYC, upload scanned documents, and submit before the closing date.

New Registration (One-Time Registration - OTR): Visit the NSP website (https://scholarships.gov.in/) and click on 'New Registration' or 'Register Yourself'. Read the guidelines, then proceed to enter your mobile number, verify with an OTP, and complete the CAPTCHA.
- 2Aadhaar eKYC (Identity Verification)
Choose to verify your identity via Aadhaar or Aadhaar Enrollment ID. Enter your Aadhaar number, verify using OTP, and complete the CAPTCHA. If you don't have an Aadhaar, similar steps apply using an Enrollment ID. Fill in personal details like name, birthdate, gender, parent's name, and email.
- 3Registration Confirmation
Upon successful completion, you will receive a 'Student Registration ID'. Keep this ID safe for future logins.
- 4Login to NSP
Go to the login section on the NSP. Enter your 'Student Registration ID' and the password (which is usually sent to your registered mobile number).
- 5Start Application
After logging in, select 'Apply Fresh' for a new application. If you are renewing a previous scholarship, select 'Renewal'.
- 6Fill Application Form
Carefully complete all required details in the application form, including general information, academic details, and scheme selection. Upload necessary documents such as domicile certificate, caste certificate, academic mark sheets/degrees/certificates, income certificate, passport-size photograph, and the first page of your Aadhaar-linked bank passbook.
- 7Review and Submit
Thoroughly review all the information and uploaded documents before clicking 'Final Submit'. Once submitted, the application cannot be edited.

What is the family income limit for this scholarship?
To qualify for Andaman and Nicobar Islands Scholarships, applicants must have a valid annual family income of ₹2,50,000 or less. This income criterion generally applies to ST scholarships.
Can I apply if I am pursuing a diploma course after Class 10?
Yes, if the Class 10 examination is treated as equivalent to Matriculation and you are pursuing recognized professional/technical courses or diploma courses after passing Class 10, you will be considered a post-matric student and are eligible for the additional scholarship. However, students in Class 11 or 12 are not eligible for this specific 'Additional Scholarship' as it is for higher/professional courses.
What happens if I fail in an academic year? Can I still renew my scholarship?
