DAAD WISE offers a monthly stipend of €934 plus roundtrip airfare and health insurance to top Indian undergraduate engineering and science students to carry out a 2 to 3-month summer research internship at top German universities and laboratories.

The DAAD WISE scholarship provides a monthly stipend of €831 for undergraduate students, calculated on a daily basis (approximately €25 per day). Additionally, a one-time lump sum travel subsidy of €1,050 is provided. Payments towards health, accident, and personal liability insurance are also covered by DAAD. The total estimated amount for a 3-month internship is approximately €3,543 (INR 3,89,634) including travel, while a 2-month internship would be around €2,662 (INR 2,92,757) including travel. The scholarship covers living costs, as most public German universities do not charge tuition fees. The grant is non-renewable. (Conversions based on an exchange rate of ₹109.97 per EUR as of August 2026).
Monthly living allowance of €934 + return air travel subsidy of €1,075 + DAAD health and accident insurance for 2-3 months in Germany.

This is a mandatory prerequisite, and applicants are advised to start this outreach process well in advance, ideally in August, as the actual application window is shorter.

- 3Complete Online Application Form
Fill out the online application form completely on the DAAD portal.
- 4Prepare Documents
Gather all required documents, including: * Full Curriculum Vitae (CV). * Letter of Motivation/Statement of Purpose explaining your choice of internship and Germany. * Academic transcripts of all completed semesters, demonstrating an aggregate percentage of 85% or a CGPA of 8.5/10 or above. * DAAD form 'Certificate of Enrollment' filled by your home institution. * DAAD form 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC) filled and stamped by your home institution. * DAAD form 'Approval Form by German Host' filled by your German supervisor. * A short research proposal. * Proof of Indian nationality and a valid passport (to be in possession by December 1st). The name on the application must match the passport. * Proof of very good English language proficiency (German language skills are not mandatory).

Obtain a letter of reference from an Indian university professor. This letter may need to be sent directly to the DAAD office.

Upload all documents to the DAAD portal. After completing the online application, print the 'Application Summary' (generated in the DAAD portal) and, along with the Letter of Recommendation (if not uploaded or sent directly by the referee), post these physical documents to the DAAD office in New Delhi.
