IndianOil Sports Scholarship Scheme

Selection for the IndianOil Sports Scholarship Scheme is based on the applicant's performance and achievements in their respective sports, for two categories: 'Elite Scholar' and 'Scholar'.

Elite Scholar:Candidates should represent the country in team games, or have a national ranking between 1-5 (Junior or Sub-Junior level), or be a semi-finalist/finalist in a national championship in individual games.

Scholar:Candidates should represent their state team in team games, or have a national ranking between 6-10 (Junior or Sub-Junior level), or be a quarter-finalist in a national championship in individual games.

The age criteria for the scheme are generally between 13 to 19 years as on a specific cut-off date mentioned in the official notification. For selection, the latest results and rankings available on the official website of the government-recognized Sports Body are considered. If there are more candidates than available vacancies, the player with the better ranking will be given preference.

The duration of the sports scholarship is for a period of three years

After the completion of the first year of the scholarship, the performance of the player is reviewed based on their achievements in State/National level and All India Ranking tournaments for juniors/sub-juniors

Based on satisfactory performance, the scholarship will be renewed for the second year

The extension for the third year is similarly based on the performance in the second year of the scholarship

If a player's performance is not found satisfactory, or if the player completes 19 years of age during the tenure, the scholarship may be discontinued, though an extension beyond 19 years may be considered on a case-to-case basis on merit

Sports scholars are required to submit their performance reports immediately after the completion of a tournament, with necessary press clippings, through the Head of their Institution/Principal or their National/State Association.
