Ishan Uday is a special scholarship scheme by UGC for students of North Eastern Region to promote higher education.
Benefits & Financial Support
₹1.0 Lakh+
The scholarship provides a monthly stipend of ₹5,400 for general degree courses and ₹7,800 for technical, medical, professional, and paramedical courses. The payment is disbursed annually through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) directly to the Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts of the beneficiaries.

Note: For students of NER pursuing general or technical degree courses. 10,000 slots annually.

Selection Process

Slots are distributed among NER states based on population census, and any unfilled slots are re-distributed equitably among other states

Renewal Policy

The scholarship is renewable annually for the entire duration of the first degree course, provided the student maintains good conduct, prescribed attendance, and is promoted to the next academic year

An annual progress report certified by the administrative head of the University/Institution/College is required for renewal

Students must apply for renewal on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) each year

Failure to be promoted to the next class or level will result in the forfeiture of the scholarship

Changing the course of study is generally not permitted, and doing so may lead to the cancellation of the scholarship

In cases of inability to appear for annual examinations due to illness, renewal may be considered upon submission of a medical certificate and other proofs to the satisfaction of the Head of the Institution.
How to Apply Online
Applications are submitted online via Online. Complete eKYC, upload scanned documents, and submit before the closing date.

Click on the 'New Registration' button. Read the guidelines carefully, accept the terms, and click 'Continue'.
- 3Fill Registration Form
Complete the registration form with your basic details, including Aadhaar number, mobile number, and bank details. Your Application ID and password will be displayed and sent via SMS to your registered mobile number.
- 4Login to NSP
Log in using your generated Application ID and password. You may be prompted to reset your password upon first login.
- 5Complete Application Form
Navigate to the 'Application Form' section or select 'Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme for North Eastern Region' from the list of UGC schemes. Fill in all required academic, personal, and financial details accurately.

Upload scanned copies of the necessary documents. These typically include: Domicile certificate, Income certificate, Class 12 Marksheet, Proof of Admission (for the current academic year), Aadhaar card, and a copy of your Bank Passbook. Ensure each document is in .pdf or .jpeg format and does not exceed 200 KB in size.

You can 'Save as Draft' to complete it later or 'Final Submit' once all details are correctly filled. After final submission, it is advisable to take a printout and submit it to your college's Nodal Scholarship Officer for verification.
