Benefits & Financial Support

The J&K Government contributes ₹1,000 per month for 14 years into a recurring deposit account opened in the name of the girl child. This builds a total government contribution of ₹1,68,000. After the 14-year recurring deposit phase (Phase I), the account automatically transitions to a Cumulative Term Deposit (Phase II) for an additional 7 years. Upon the girl child attaining 21 years of age, she receives an approximate lump sum of ₹6.50 lakh. The maturity amount is credited directly into her savings bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). No partial withdrawals or premature closures are allowed under any circumstances during the scheme's tenure.
Recurring monthly deposit of ₹1,000 for 14 years, maturing to ₹6.5 Lakh at age 21 for education and wedding expenses.
Note: Girl child must be born on or after April 1, 2015.

Selection Process

Candidates are selected based on fulfilling the following eligibility criteria: The girl child must be born on or after April 1, 2015

The annual income of the parents/guardians from all sources must be less than ₹75,000

The girl child and her family must be residents of Jammu & Kashmir

The scheme is currently implemented in eight specified districts: Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Kishtwar, Srinagar, Pulwama, Budgam, and Anantnag, where the girl child sex ratio was lower compared to other districts

Applications are submitted online, verified by the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), and then sent to the Social Welfare Department for further approval by the Deputy Commissioner.

If you are a new user, register on the Service Plus Portal by creating your login credentials (username and password).
