About the Program

Chief Minister's Scholarship Scheme (CMSS) is a universal scholarship program for Meghalaya students pursuing higher education, regardless of family income.

Benefits & Financial Support

₹6k+

Each eligible student will receive a fixed annual scholarship of ₹6,000. The amount will be directly credited to the student's Aadhaar-seeded bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode. The amount may be revised by the Government from time to time. Students can avail this scholarship in addition to other central or state scholarships.

Note: Unique scheme with NO income ceiling for Meghalaya residents.

Selection Process

  • Candidates will be selected based on academic merit and fulfillment of eligibility requirements

Renewal Policy

To continue receiving the scholarship annually, students must secure at least 35% marks in the preceding academic year.

Applications are submitted online via Online. Complete eKYC, upload scanned documents, and submit before the closing date.

    If you are a first-time user, click on 'Register to new user' or the 'Registration for New User' option and complete the registration process using your PDS/Ration Card Number or EPIC (Voter ID) Number. Who is eligible for the Chief Minister Scholarship Scheme (CMSS)?

The scholarship is available to students who are permanent residents/domiciles of Meghalaya, are enrolled in full-time regular courses from Class XI up to Ph.D. level in recognized institutions (within or outside the state), and have a valid bank account, mobile number, and email ID. There is no income ceiling for applicants.

Can students pursuing part-time or correspondence courses apply for CMSS?

No, students pursuing part-time or correspondence degrees/courses are not eligible to apply for the Chief Minister's Scholarship Scheme. Only students enrolled in regular full-time courses are considered.
