The scholarship provides an annual stipend of up to $50,000 CAD (approximately 3,372,200 INR) for three years to cover tuition and living expenses. Additionally, an annual allowance of up to $20,000 CAD (approximately 1,348,800 INR) is provided for three years to support research, networking, travel related to the doctoral project and Foundation programming, and language learning. The total annual value can be up to $70,000 CAD (approximately 4,721,500 INR). Regardless of other funding, all Scholars receive the annual $20,000 CAD allowance and a minimum of $25,000 CAD (approximately 1,686,250 INR) from the annual stipend, making the minimum total annual funding $45,000 CAD (approximately 3,035,250 INR). The total scholarship value over three years can reach up to $210,000 CAD (approximately 14,167,800 INR).

Degree Level:Exclusively for students enrolled in a PhD program. The Foundation does not provide funding for undergraduate, master's, or postdoctoral studies.

Year of Program:At the time of application, candidates must be in the first or second year of a full-time doctoral program. Candidates in their final year of a master's program are no longer eligible for the 2026 Scholarship competition.

Field of Study:Research must be broadly related to the humanities and social sciences, or human sciences, and be directly relevant to the future of Canada. It must also align with at least one of the Foundation's four major themes: Human Rights and Dignity; Responsible Citizenship; Canada and the World; and People and their Natural Environment.
