About the Program
Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) for RPF/RPSF creates opportunities for wards and widows of Railway Protection Force personnel to pursue technical education.

The scholarship provides financial assistance on a monthly basis, disbursed annually. Male students receive ₹2,500 per month (₹30,000 annually), while female students receive ₹3,000 per month (₹36,000 annually). The scholarship amount is credited directly to the selected applicants' Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Mission of the Government.

Selection Process

Candidates are selected based on merit, specifically their scores in the Minimum Entry Qualification (MEQ), and adherence to all prescribed eligibility criteria

If the number of eligible applications exceeds the available scholarships, an order of preference is followed: Categories I (wards/widows of ex-RPF/RPSF personnel who died in harness due to encounters), II (wards/widows of personnel who died while in service), III (wards of retired personnel), and IV (wards of serving personnel)

Who is eligible to apply for the PM Scholarship Scheme (Railways) for 2025-26/2026-27?
