The Post-Matric Merit Scholarship (PMMS) Mizoram provides monthly maintenance allowances varying by course group and hostel status. Students in Group A (Degree/PG) receive ₹1,200 – ₹2,000 per month. Group B (Diploma/ITI) students get ₹550 – ₹1,200 per month. For Group C (Class 11-12), the allowance is ₹300 – ₹750 per month, and Group D (Others) receive ₹230 – ₹500 per month. An additional Reader Allowance of ₹250 per month is provided for blind students. The scholarship aims to cover tuition fees, maintenance expenses (boarding and lodging), and other educational costs like books and stationery. All financial assistance is disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts.

Selection Process

Candidates are selected primarily based on academic merit, requiring a minimum of 60% marks or a first division in their last qualifying Board/University examination

Applicants must be bonafide permanent residents or children/wards of bonafide permanent residents of Mizoram and must be pursuing post-matric studies in a recognized institution anywhere in India

Students should not be receiving any other scholarship or funding for the same course of study

Priority is also given to students from economically weaker sections with higher marks.

Renewal Policy

The scholarship is generally renewable each academic year, provided the student maintains satisfactory academic performance and continues to fulfill all eligibility criteria

However, students found guilty of misconduct or bad discipline are ineligible for renewal

Additionally, students who have completed one educational stage and are pursuing the same stage in a different course, or those who completed a professional line and are pursuing a different line at the same level, are not eligible for renewal

If a student accepts another scholarship or stipend of a higher value, they must choose between the two and inform the Mizoram Scholarship Board, as no payment will be made under PMMS from the date the other scholarship is accepted.
