Unlike European universities that operate rigid single intake windows, US graduate admissions offices evaluate applications across three distinct timeline tiers: Priority Funding Deadlines, Regular Deadlines, and Rolling Admissions.
Here is what Indian families need to know upfront:
- Priority Funding Deadline (Nov 15 – Dec 15): This is the single most important deadline for Indian students. Submitting before the priority deadline automatically enters your profile into consideration for Teaching/Research Assistantships (TA/RA) and departmental fellowships (Assistantships Ta Ra Ga).
- Applying Early Increases Admission Odds by 40%: Because US departments evaluate profiles as they arrive, seats and funding pools are allocated early. Applying in November yields higher admit odds than submitting the exact same profile in March!
