About the Program
The Videsh Siksha Bruti Foreign Education Scholarship provides up to ₹25 lakh per year to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students from Odisha with family income below ₹12 lakh annually who have secured admission to Postgraduate or PhD programmes in Top 200 QS World Ranking foreign universities with 50 scholarships awarded annually across engineering technical medical agriculture architecture and higher education disciplines starting from 2025-26 academic year.

Must be enrolled in Engineering, Technical Education, Medical, Agriculture, Architecture, Science, Arts, Commerce, Law, Management, Social Sciences - Postgraduate and PhD programmes only.

Only for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students who are bonafide residents of Odisha
Annual family income from all sources must not exceed ₹12,00,000 per year
Student must have secured confirmed admission to Postgraduate (PG) or PhD programme at a foreign university or institution
The foreign university MUST be ranked in Top 200 of QS World University Rankings - non-QS ranked or lower ranked universities not eligible
Only courses at Masters level or Doctoral level covered - Undergraduate Bachelor programmes not eligible under this scheme
Selection is merit-based and competitive - only 50 students selected per year across all disciplines
Preference given to students with strong academic records and admission to highly ranked universities
Applications invited twice per year: July-August cycle for admissions starting August-September globally, December-January cycle for admissions starting January-February globally
Students pursuing studies in any country eligible as long as university meets QS Top 200 criteria

Expected process: Visit State Scholarship Portal or Higher Education Department portal when operational, 4. Applications will be invited twice annually during July-August cycle and December-January cycle, 5. First application cycle expected July-August 2025 for 2025-26 academic admissions, 6. Students must first secure admission to Top 200 QS Ranking foreign university independently, 7. After receiving admission offer letter apply for Videsh Siksha Bruti scholarship, 8. Fill online application form with personal academic and admission details, 9. Upload all required documents including admission letter QS ranking proof caste certificate income certificate, 10. Submit application before deadline specific to each cycle, 11. Selection committee will review applications based on merit and eligibility, 12. Selected students will be notified and scholarship disbursed through DBT, 13. Monitor Higher Education Department website for official guidelines and application dates

Q.Can I use this scholarship for undergraduate studies abroad?
No, only Postgraduate (Masters) and PhD programmes are covered. Undergraduate Bachelor degree programmes are not eligible.
Q.How competitive is this scholarship?
Very competitive - only 50 students selected annually across all of Odisha for all disciplines. Priority given to students with strong academic merit and admission to highly ranked universities within the Top 200.
