Punjab Opens PM YASASVI Scholarship Portal for OBC, EBC, DNT Students

Punjab has opened its scholarship portal for eligible OBC, EBC, and DNT students. They can now apply under the PM Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India (PM YASASVI). This initiative provides crucial financial support for their education.

Key Details for Applicants

The PM YASASVI scheme is a central government initiative. It helps students from Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC), and De-Notified Tribes (DNT) categories.

Eligibility Criteria:

Students must belong to OBC, EBC, or DNT categories. Your family's annual income should not exceed ₹2.5 lakh from all sources. Applicants must be studying in Class 9, Class 11, or beyond Class 12. For Class 9 and 11, you need to be in a recognized institution.

Application Process:

Apply online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Visit scholarships.gov.in to begin your application. New users need to complete a One-Time Registration (OTR). Ensure all details match your official documents.

Important Deadlines:

For the PM YASASVI Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC/EBC/DNT Students in Punjab, the deadline is August 6, 2026. For the broader PM YASASVI Top Class School and College Education schemes, the deadline is August 31, 2026. Apply early to avoid last-minute technical issues.

Scholarship Benefits:

For students in Classes 9-10, the scholarship can be up to ₹75,000 per year. For Classes 11-12, it offers up to ₹1,25,000 annually. Benefits for college students cover tuition, hostel, books, and living expenses. These funds are transferred directly via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Important Reminders for All Applicants

Your Aadhaar card must be linked to an active bank account. Ensure your bank account is mapped with NPCI for smooth DBT. This ensures timely receipt of scholarship funds.

The YASASVI Entrance Test (YET) has been discontinued. Selection is now based purely on academic merit. It considers marks from your previous class's final examination. A 30% reservation is available for eligible girl students. The scholarship benefit is limited to two siblings per family.
