About the Program
The Post-Matric Scholarship to SBC Students by Government of Maharashtra supports Special Backward Classes students pursuing education from Class 11 onwards through the MahaDBT portal. It provides monthly maintenance allowances up to ₹425 for hostellers to promote higher education and financial inclusion. Eligible Maharashtra domiciles with family income up to ₹2.5 lakh can apply online by 31 March 2026.

For hostellers, the monthly maintenance allowance can be up to ₹425, while for day scholars, it can be up to ₹190. For technical courses, the tuition and examination fees are covered up to a maximum of ₹25,000 per annum or the actual fees, whichever is less. The total annual amount is variable, depending on the course fees, but can range from approximately ₹900 (minimum day scholar maintenance for 10 months) to over ₹29,250 annually (maximum technical course fees plus maximum hosteller maintenance for 10 months). The scholarship amount is disbursed via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) directly into Aadhaar-linked bank accounts. The monthly maintenance allowance is provided from the admission date until the exam completion date. If admission occurs on or before the 20th of a month, the allowance for that month is included; otherwise, it starts from the following month.
