How Candidates are Selected
Only for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students who are bonafide residents of Odisha. Student must have completed Class 8 and newly admitted to Class 9 in same academic year, OR completed Class 10 and newly admitted to Class 11 in same academic year. This is a ONE-TIME incentive given at time of first admission only - cannot apply again in subsequent years. Family annual income from all sources must not exceed ₹2,50,000. Student must be enrolled in regular full-time courses in government or government-aided high schools and higher secondary schools within Odisha state. Private school students are NOT eligible. Students already receiving other ST scholarships like Post-Matric ST remain eligible for this scheme as it can be combined. Selection based on eligibility verification - all eligible ST students who meet criteria will receive scholarship (not merit-based competition). Application window opens twice yearly - applications invited during July-August and December-January cycles. School Principal must validate application - individual student applications not accepted.

Q.Can I apply directly as a student?
No, students cannot apply directly. The application must be submitted by your school Principal or Head Master through the scholarship portal. Inform your school authorities about your eligibility.
Q.Can I get this scholarship along with Post-Matric ST scholarship?
Yes, this is one of the few scholarships that can be availed along with other government scholarships. ST students receiving Post-Matric or other schemes remain eligible for Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Yojana.
Q.I failed Class 8 and repeated it. Am I eligible when I join Class 9?
Yes, as long as you have completed Class 8 and are joining Class 9 for the first time in the current academic year, you are eligible regardless of whether you repeated Class 8.
Q.Can I get this scholarship every year in Class 9, 10, 11, 12?
No, this is a ONE-TIME incentive only. You receive ₹5,000 once when joining Class 9 (after Class 8) OR once when joining Class 11 (after Class 10). Not renewable for subsequent years.
Q.My school is private but aided by government. Am I eligible?
Yes, government-aided schools are eligible. Only fully private unaided schools are excluded. Check with your Principal if your school receives government aid.
