The "Tamil Nadu Pre-Matric Scholarship for BC/MBC/Minorities" encompasses various schemes with differing financial assistance. For Backward Classes (BC) and Most Backward Classes (MBC) students studying from 6th to 8th standard in English Medium in Government/Government-aided schools, tuition fees are reimbursed at ₹200 per year (₹20 per month for 10 months). For students in 9th to 10th standard, the reimbursement is ₹250 per year (₹25 per month for 10 months), and examination fees for 10th standard are fully covered. For students belonging to Minority communities (Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, and Zoroastrians/Parsis) under the Central Sector Scheme of Pre-Matric Scholarship for Minorities, day scholars (Classes I-X) receive a maintenance allowance of ₹100 per month (for 10 months) and an ad-hoc grant of ₹750 per annum, totaling up to ₹1,750 annually. Hostellers (Classes VI-X) receive a maintenance allowance of ₹600 per month (for 10 months), an admission fee reimbursement of up to ₹500 per annum, tuition fees up to ₹350 per month, and an ad-hoc grant of ₹750 per annum, totaling approximately ₹10,750 annually. Under the PM-YASASVI Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme, girl students from Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes, and Denotified Communities studying in 9th and 10th standard in government schools receive an annual scholarship of ₹4,000. Scholarship renewal is generally subject to successful completion of the course during the preceding year and good conduct and regularity in attendance. A scholarship for studying in any particular class will be available for only one year; if a student has to repeat a class, they will not receive the scholarship for the same class twice.
