About the Program
The Vidyasiri Food and Accommodation Scholarship for OBC Students in Karnataka provides financial assistance to Other Backward Classes students pursuing post-matric education who are NOT residing in government hostels. Offered by the Department of Backward Classes Welfare through the State Scholarship Portal (SSP), this scholarship provides Rs 15,000 per year (Rs 1,500/month for 10 months) to cover food and accommodation expenses. Students must be permanent Karnataka residents living at least 5 km away from their college (rural areas) or studying in a different city/town, with family income up to Rs 1-2.5 lakh depending on OBC sub-category.

Only ONE benefit allowed - must choose between Vidyasiri Food & Accommodation OR Post-Matric OBC Scholarship OR Government Hostel facility.

Post-Matric (Classes 11/PUC onwards including Diploma, ITI, General Degree, Professional courses, UG, PG)
Must be enrolled in All fields of study.
Financial & Category
Selection Process
Selection based on: OBC caste verification (GoI/State notified list), Income verification by category, Distance/location requirement (>= 5 km rural OR different city/town), Academic performance (category-specific marks + 75% attendance), Hostel status check (NOT in govt hostel), Family limit (max 2 males), Merit-cum-means ranking within eligible pool, Category reservation (Cat 1 vs 2A/3A/3B), Institution validation, Processing through college → taluk → district officers → final approval, DBT payment.

Yes - renewable annually
Category 1: >= 50% marks
Categories 2A/3A/3B: >= 60% marks. 75% attendance maintained
