Benefits & Financial Support

₹14k+

The scholarship provides financial assistance ranging from INR 2,000 for intermediate courses up to INR 15,000 annually for professional/technical degree/courses. In addition to the annual scholarship amount, selected candidates also receive other benefits, which may include maintenance allowance, reimbursement of compulsory non-refundable fees, study tour charges, thesis typing allowance, book allowance, and book bank facilities. An additional allowance is also provided to disabled students each academic year. The financial aid is disbursed directly into the student's Aadhaar-seeded bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) after successful verification of caste, income, and residence certificates, and confirmation of Aadhaar seeding.

Selection Process

  • Candidates are selected based on their fulfillment of the following eligibility criteria for the academic year 2026-27: applicants must be a domicile/permanent resident of Bihar

  • They must belong to the Backward Class (BC) or Extremely Backward Class (EBC) category of Bihar

  • The annual family income from all sources, including the applicant's own income, should not exceed INR 3,00,000

  • Applicants must be studying in a post-matriculation course (Class 11 onwards) at a government institution or a recognized non-government institution located within Bihar

  • The scholarship is typically awarded to only two sons per family, but this rule does not apply to daughters

  • Students are not eligible if they are already employed in government sectors or have received a scholarship for an equivalent course

  • The scholarship payment is released only after a well-defined procedure laid down by the Education Department, Government of Bihar, including verification of documents and Aadhaar seeding, has been followed.

Renewal Policy

  • Renewal of the Bihar Post Matric Scholarship is available for continuing students
