About the Program
The Gopabandhu Sikhya Sahayata Yojana provides ₹20,000 per year to vulnerable and marginalized students in Odisha pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate courses in government-recognized institutions with family income below ₹2.5 lakh annually including HIV/AIDS affected families, homeless households, single mother families, orphans, transgender students, manual scavengers, bonded laborers, PVTGs, and girls rescued from child marriage.

Must be enrolled in All UG/PG courses - Technical, Non-Technical, Professional, Non-Professional including Engineering, Medical, Arts, Commerce, Science, MBA, MCA, Law.

Selection Process
For students from 10 vulnerable categories: HIV/AIDS affected families (either or both parents), Households without shelter, Destitute/living on alms families, Manual scavenger families, Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), Legally released bonded laborer families, Single mother families (widowed/divorced/unmarried with dependent children), Specially cared child (orphans without biological/adoptive/legal parents), Transgender community students, Girls rescued from child marriage staying in rehabilitation homes
Must be permanent Odisha resident enrolled in regular full-time UG/PG courses from government-recognized institutions in Odisha
Family income from all sources must not exceed ₹2,50,000 per annum
Merit list prepared based on academic performance and family income
Students can receive this scholarship even while availing other government scholarships.

Application Process
1. Visit State Scholarship Portal at https://scholarship.odisha.gov.in/, 2. Click on Registration and read Instructions/Declaration carefully, 3. Select checkbox and click I Agree, 4. Enter Aadhaar number and mobile number to proceed, 5. Fill mandatory fields: Name, Gender, Date of Birth, Email ID, 6. Receive User ID and Password on registered mobile/email, 7. Click Student Login and enter credentials, 8. Select Schemes and Scholarship option from menu, 9. Choose Gopabandhu Sikhya Sahayata Yojana from dropdown, 10. Fill complete application form with student details, academic background, family income, bank details, 11. Upload all required documents and category-specific certificates, 12. Review filled application carefully, 13. Submit online application and download acknowledgment, 14. Submit two printed copies with documents to Principal/Head of Institution for verification

Category-specific certificates required: HIV/AIDS medical certificate, homeless certificate from revenue officer, single mother certificate from DSWO, destitute certificate from Sarpanch, manual scavenger certificate, PVTG certificate, bonded labor release certificate, orphan certificate from DPO, transgender certificate, or child marriage rescue certificate.
Q.Can distance learning students apply?
No, only students enrolled in regular full-time courses at government-recognized institutions in Odisha are eligible. Distance/correspondence courses are not covered.
