About the Program

The Gopabandhu Sikhya Sahayata Yojana provides ₹20,000 per year to vulnerable and marginalized students in Odisha pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate courses in government-recognized institutions with family income below ₹2.5 lakh annually including HIV/AIDS affected families, homeless households, single mother families, orphans, transgender students, manual scavengers, bonded laborers, PVTGs, and girls rescued from child marriage.

The scholarship provides financial assistance of ₹20,000 per annum for students pursuing undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses. For 4-year technical courses (B.Tech/B.E.), the assistance is ₹12,000 for the first three years and ₹20,000 for the final year. Similarly, for integrated/5-year courses, it is ₹12,000 for the first three years and ₹20,000 for the fourth and fifth years. The financial assistance is provided annually for the normal duration of the course until its completion. The funds are disbursed directly into the beneficiaries' Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to ensure transparency and prevent impersonation.

Selection Process

  • Candidates are selected based on their fulfillment of specific eligibility criteria

  • Applicants must be permanent residents of Odisha and enrolled in regular undergraduate or postgraduate courses (technical, non-technical, or professional) at government-recognized institutions within the state

  • The annual family income from all sources must not exceed ₹2,50,000

  • Additionally, students must belong to one of the following disadvantaged categories: families impacted by HIV/AIDS, homeless households, begging or destitute families, manual scavenger families, particularly vulnerable tribal groups, legally emancipated bonded laborers, single mother families (widowed, divorced, or unmarried), specially cared children (orphans), students from the transgender community, or girl students rescued from child marriage who continue to stay in a rehabilitation shelter or hostel.

Renewal Policy

  • The scholarship is awarded annually and is subject to renewal each year, provided the student maintains satisfactory academic performance and ensures regular attendance

  • The financial assistance will be continued for the entire normal duration of the respective course.

Applications are submitted online via Form-only. Complete eKYC, upload scanned documents, and submit before the closing date.
