How to Apply Online

Applications are submitted online via Online via scholarships.gov.in or NSP OTR App. Complete eKYC, upload scanned documents, and submit before the closing date.

  Understand NSP OTR (One-Time Registration) NSP OTR is a mandatory process to create a unique 14-digit ID on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), managed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). This ID is valid for your entire academic journey and is required for all scholarship applications on the portal.

  Prepare Required Documents/Information for OTR Keep the following ready: * Active Mobile Number (linked with Aadhaar is preferred). * Aadhaar Card Number or Aadhaar Enrolment ID (EID). For minors without Aadhaar, a parent's/guardian's Aadhaar can be used. * Email ID. * Bank account details (ideally linked with Aadhaar for DBT). * Basic personal details (name, date of birth, address, parent's name).

  Complete NSP OTR Registration Online 1. Visit the Official NSP Portal: Go to `https://scholarships.gov.in/`. 2. Initiate OTR: Look for the 'One-Time Registration (OTR)' option, typically under the 'Student' section. 3. Mobile Number Verification: Register using your active mobile number. A reference number will be generated and sent to this number. 4. Install Mobile Apps: Download and install the NSP OTR App and Aadhaar Face RD app from the Google Play Store on an Android device. 5. Perform Face Authentication: Open the NSP OTR app and click 'Register'. Follow the prompts for Aadhaar eKYC verification and then perform face authentication using the Aadhaar Face RD app and the reference number received. Ensure your Aadhaar biometrics are 'Unlocked' if facing issues. 6. Fill Personal Details: Complete the form with your personal and banking details. Ensure your bank account is seeded with Aadhaar for scholarship payment transfer. 7. Create Password: Set a strong password and security questions. 8. Submit and Save: Submit the form and securely save your generated 14-digit OTR number, password, and reference number. These are crucial for future applications.

  Apply for a Scholarship using your OTR 1. Login to NSP: Once OTR is generated, log in to the National Scholarship Portal using your OTR ID and password. 2. Select Scholarship Scheme: Navigate to the 'Apply for Scholarship' section (fresh or renewal) and select the specific scholarship scheme for which you are eligible. Your profile details will be pre-filled from your OTR, speeding up the process. 3. Fill Application Form: Complete the scholarship-specific application form, upload any additional required documents (e.g., academic mark sheets, income certificate, caste certificate, bonafide certificate, passport-size photograph). 4. Submit: Review all information carefully before submitting the application. Corrections/editing may not be allowed after submission.

  Track Application Status 1. Login to NSP: Log in with your OTR ID and password. 2. Track Status: Use the 'Track Your Application Status' option on your dashboard. You can monitor the progress through institute verification, district/state/ministry nodal officer clearance, and finally, payment disbursement. 3. Track Payment: You can also track your scholarship disbursement status on the PFMS portal. Important Notes:** * The NSP portal for AY 2026-27 opened on June 1, 2026. Last dates vary by scheme; check specific scheme deadlines. * Students can apply for one merit-based and one or more welfare-based scholarships from AY 2026–27.
