The Post-Matric Scholarship for Minorities provides financial assistance covering admission and tuition fees, up to INR 7,000 per annum for Class 11th & 12th, and Undergraduate (UG) & Postgraduate (PG) levels, and up to INR 10,000 per annum for technical/vocational courses of Class 11th & 12th (more than 1 year duration). A maintenance allowance is also provided for 10 months in an academic year. This allowance varies by course level and hosteller/day scholar status: for Class 11th & 12th (including technical & vocational courses) it is ₹380 per month for hostellers and ₹230 per month for day scholars; for UG & PG levels (other than technical & professional courses) it is ₹570 per month for hostellers and ₹300 per month for day scholars; and for M.Phil & Ph.D. it is ₹1,200 per month for hostellers and ₹550 per month for day scholars. The scholarship amount is disbursed directly into the beneficiary's Aadhaar-seeded bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

How to Apply Online

* Visit the official National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at scholarships.gov.in. * Click on 'New Registration' (or navigate to 'Applicant Corner' and select 'New Registration'). * Read and accept the guidelines and terms and conditions carefully. * Complete the One Time Registration (OTR) process, which is mandatory. An OTR ID, a unique 14-digit number based on your Aadhaar/Aadhaar Enrolment ID, will be generated for your entire academic career. * Provide an active Aadhaar-linked mobile number and a valid email ID for receiving One Time Passwords (OTPs) and notifications. **

* Log in to the NSP portal using your generated OTR ID and password. * On the applicant's dashboard, click on 'Application Form' or 'Apply for Scholarship'. * Select the 'Post-Matric Scholarship for Minorities' scheme. * Fill in all the required details accurately, including your personal information, academic qualifications, family income details, and bank account information (ensure it is Aadhaar-seeded). * Upload scanned copies of all necessary documents in the specified format and size (typically PDF/JPEG, not exceeding 200 KB each). These documents generally include: Aadhaar Card, Income Certificate (issued by a competent authority), Minority Community Certificate (self-declaration for students 18+ or verified by parents for those under 18), Marksheet of the previous qualifying examination (with minimum 50% marks), Fee Receipt of the current course year, Bank Account details (Aadhaar-seeded), Residential/Domicile Certificate, Bonafide Certificate from the institution, and a Passport-size photograph. * Log in to the NSP portal (scholarships.gov.in) with your Application ID and password. * Track your application status under the 'Application Status' or the payment/verification section on your dashboard. * If your application status shows 'application final verified by the district nodal officer' or 'final verified by ministry,' the payment is typically sent to the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) for disbursement. * You can track your payment status on the PFMS Portal (pfms.nic.in). On the PFMS portal, select the category as 'NSP,' enter your Application ID, and complete the word verification. Alternatively, use the 'Know Your Payment' option on PFMS. The scholarship amount will be disbursed directly into your Aadhaar-seeded bank account through DBT.
Common Questions (FAQs)
Can a student apply for this scholarship if they are already receiving another government scholarship?
No, students are not permitted to avail benefits from two central or state-funded scholarships simultaneously for the same course. Applying for multiple scholarships for the same educational period is not allowed under this scheme.
Is it mandatory to have an Aadhaar-linked bank account to receive the scholarship funds?
