About the Program

A dedicated scholarship for students with disabilities studying in Class 9 and 10 to support their transition to secondary education.

Benefits & Financial Support

₹13k+

The scholarship provides a monthly maintenance allowance (₹500 for day scholars, ₹800 for hostellers) for 10 months in an academic year, an annual book grant of ₹1,000, and a disability allowance. The disability allowance is ₹4,000 per annum for visually impaired or intellectually disabled students, and ₹2,000 per annum for all other types of disabilities. All scholarship amounts are disbursed directly into the student's Aadhaar-linked bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Covers maintenance allowance, book grant, and disability allowance for students with 40%+ disability.

Selection Process

Candidates are selected based on merit after recommendations from the Governments of their respective States or Union Territories
—
The scheme has a fixed number of 25,000 scholarships annually, which includes both fresh and renewal applications
—
Fresh applications are considered against the slots remaining after all renewal cases have been processed
—
Fifty percent of the total slots are reserved for female candidates
—
In case of a tie in marks, the candidate with a higher percentage of disability will be given preference
—
If there is still a tie, the older candidate will be preferred.

Renewal Policy

The scholarship is granted for one academic year per class and can be renewed annually, provided the student maintains satisfactory academic progress and advances to the next higher class within the continuous duration of the course

Students repeating a class will not be eligible for the scholarship for that repeated class for a second or subsequent year
—
A scholarship holder under this scheme cannot avail any other scholarship/stipend concurrently.

How to Apply Online

Applications are submitted online via the official portal. Complete eKYC, upload scanned documents, and submit before the closing date.

One Time Registration (OTR)
* Visit the official National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at https://scholarships.gov.in/. * Click on "New Registration" or "Apply For One Time Registration (OTR)". * Register using your Aadhaar number or Aadhaar Enrollment ID (EID) and a valid mobile number. * Download the NSP OTR App and Aadhaar FaceRD application on an Android device for face authentication to generate your OTR. Ensure your Aadhaar biometric status is "Unlocked". * All disabled students must first log in to the UDID portal and provide consent to share their UDID details before submitting the application on NSP. * An OTR number and password will be generated. This OTR is a unique identification number valid for your entire academic career on NSP. **

Application Submission
* Log in to the National Scholarship Portal using your OTR ID and password. * Click on "Fresh Application" (for new applicants) or "Renewal Application" (for existing beneficiaries). * Fill in all the required details accurately in the application form. * Upload the necessary documents, which typically include: * Passport-size photograph. * Proof of Age. * Disability Certificate (issued by a competent authority, with 40% or more disability). * Income Certificate of parents/guardians (annual income from all sources not exceeding ₹2.50 lakh). * Tuition Fee Receipt of the current course year. * Last academic qualification certificate/marksheet. * Aadhaar-seeded bank account details of the applicant (or parent/guardian). * Review your application carefully before submission. No changes are allowed once submitted. * Submit your application form online before the specified deadline (for AY 2026-27, the deadline for Pre-Matric is September 30, 2026). **

* On National Scholarship Portal (NSP): * Log in to https://scholarships.gov.in/ with your application ID/OTR and password. * Navigate to your application status or "Track Your Payment" section. * On Public Financial Management System (PFMS) Portal: * Visit the PFMS official website: https://pfms.nic.in/. * Click on "Track NSP Payments" or "Know Your Payments" on the homepage. * Enter your Bank Name and Account Number, or NSP Application ID, or Aadhaar Number. * Complete the captcha verification and click "Search" to view your payment status, including transaction ID, payment date, and amount. * Ensure your bank account is linked with Aadhaar for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to avoid payment delays.

Common Questions (FAQs)

Can more than one child with disabilities from the same family avail of this scholarship?

Yes, a maximum of two children with disabilities from the same parents are eligible to receive benefits under this scheme. If the second child happens to be part of a twin, then the scholarship will be admissible to both twins.
