Benefits & Financial Support

The scholarship provides 100% reimbursement of actual tuition and other compulsory non-refundable fees fixed by the institution. A monthly maintenance allowance is also provided. For hostelers, the maintenance allowance can range from INR 1,200 to INR 2,250 per month, while for day scholars, it ranges from INR 550 to INR 1,200 per month. For undergraduate (UG) courses, the monthly allowance is typically INR 500-1000, and for postgraduate (PG) courses, it's INR 1000-1200 per month. For SC/ST students enrolled in premier institutions like IITs, NITs, AIIMS, NIFT, and CIMP (both central and state-run), the Bihar Government will bear the entire fee with no cap. An additional allowance of up to INR 240 per month is provided for students with disabilities, along with book allowance, study tour charges, thesis typing and printing charges. All scholarship amounts are disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) directly into the student's Aadhaar-seeded bank account.

How to Apply Online
Applications are submitted online via Online. Complete eKYC, upload scanned documents, and submit before the closing date.
- 1Generate OTR Number
First, generate a One-Time Registration (OTR) number on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at nsp.gov.in.
- 2Visit Official Portal
Go to the dedicated Post-Matric Scholarship portal for SC/ST students: scstpmsonline.bihar.gov.in.
- 3New Registration
Click on "New Student Registration" or "Create Profile" for the 2026-27 session.
- 4Basic Details & OTP Verification
Provide your name, mobile number, email address, and Aadhaar number. Verify these details using an OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
- 5Login
After successful registration, use your registered user ID and password to log in to the portal.
- 6Fill Application Form
Complete the comprehensive application form, accurately entering your personal, academic, course, and bank details. The course year will auto-select based on the academic session.
- 7Upload Documents
Scan and upload all mandatory documents in PDF format, ensuring each file is typically under 150 KB. Required documents include: Aadhaar card, Residential Certificate (Bihar), Caste Certificate (Digital ST), Income Certificate (dated on or after 01-Apr-2026 for 2026-27), College Bonafide Certificate, Fee Receipt of the current session, Marksheets of previous examinations, and a passport-size photograph. Ensure your bank account passbook shows it is Aadhaar-seeded.
- 8Aadhaar Seeding Check
It is mandatory to perform an Aadhaar Seeding Check. Your application cannot be finalized if your Aadhaar is not seeded with your bank account for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
- 9Review and Submit
Carefully review all entered information and uploaded documents. Once satisfied, finalize and submit your application before the specified deadline (September 30, 2026, for the 2026-27 academic year).

After submission, take a printout of the acknowledgment receipt for future reference.
